Climate scientists are frustrated because they regularly prepare reports describing the urgency of this issue. But the reports aren't resulting in the needed actions. (e.g. "These Climate Scientists are Fed up and Ready to Go on Strike, NYTimes, 3/1/22) ... Others look more deeply into the problem and describe how society is in overshoot, such that deadly changes are locked into place and coming. (e.g. See the "Post Doom" website created by Michael Dowd.)
At the Center for Wise Democracy we are shepherding a set of social innovations that people generally don't know about, which make it possible to solve "Impossible-to-solve" problems ... So we are saying ... "As a society, 'We' haven't started thinking yet."
In your conversations about climate change you will probably hear these words: "We need to ...". And then there will be a statement about what "we" need to do ... e.g. "We need to replace capitalism" or "We need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions". Or "We need to understand that climate change is just a symptom and work on the deeper 'Human Predicament'" ... These kinds of statements imply the existence of a global, conscious "We the People," capable of facing climate change or other Monster Issues and acting intelligently in the public interest. But there is currently no such "We" to pay attention to these ideas, to think them through or to act intelligently in response. But then in the conversation people will often continue talking and subtly substitute some other "We" that is supposed to take these actions ... like one of these:
At the Center for Wise Democracy, we are gathering a small set of people, the Democracy Doulas, who have experience with the various social innovations. We know that the Wisdom Council Process applied globally can facilitate the missing global "We the People" into existence. And we recognize that this leap forward in collective intelligence is essential for human society to responsibly respond to issues like climate change. (See “A ‘Holution’ for the Human Predicament”)

- "We(#1)," all of us as individuals, need to ... (e.g. raise our consciousness, become educated, lower our carbon footprint, adopt a particular belief system, love our neighbor, etc.) The idea is to reach out to people until there is a "critical mass" or a "culture change". But this strategy is facing many blocks. Plus even even if everyone were to be influenced and become different, it still doesn't necessarily mean a new level of collective intelligence.
- "We(#2)," our team of people, needs to ... (e.g. referring to corporate technological advances, the set of changes that our co-op or eco-village or community bank can model, our nonprofit organization, etc.)
- "We(#3)," our official decision-makers, need to ... (e.g. enact new treaties, new laws, policies, system changes, etc.)

Good news: If we set up a global (and national) Wisdom Council Process it will dramatically impact ALL of the Monster Problems, including climate change. ... More good news: This process is safe and already proven to work at large scale! ... More good news: Each step in setting up the global Wisdom Council Process is a benefit to society with no discernible downside. ... More good news: This Holutution is accessible and fast acting. Ordinary people can start the process. We don't need permission from the UN, nor a majority of people to understand how it works beforehand. We just need enough people who understand this facilitative, holistic paradigm of change. And enough resources and media support.

Here's how this "holution" will address climate change
The global Wisdom Council Process will facilitate ...
- Removing the blocks to existing solutions ... Many solution strategies to climate change already exist — e.g. new technologies, new national policies, new education strategies, carbon taxes, etc. But these are largely blocked by our current System, which is a competition of special interests that dominates and suppresses any efforts to serve the public interest. So for example, currently the development of green energy technologies are more primarily about profits than about solving the climate crisis. Here's how we remove that block.
- Generating "We the People" unity ... The blocks start going away when "all the people" develop a shared understanding about the issue (i.e. truth); what we want (i.e. vision); what we need to do (i.e. strategy). For instance, in pursuit of profits some media organizations mis-inform large populations, implying that "the climate crisis is not real" and can be ignored. These subpopulations value loyalty to their "tribe" over evidence, critical thinking and influence. They hold to self-destructive positions and become susceptible to authoritarian leaders. Here's how to reopen closed minds and come to shared understandings about "truth" ... through choice-creating.
- Overcoming the impact of money-in-politics and partisan gridlock ... Special interests dominate and corrupt the collective decision-making process to the extent that there is no process of collective thinking. And no sense of the "public interest". Once we all co-discover what we want and start managing things toward achieving it, then the Public Interest can start to overrule the Special Interests.
- Elevating collective consciousness ... Many people think that increased consciousness is the answer to this and other monster problems. But educating and transforming individuals is not enough. Collective consciousness is NOT necessarily achieved through a raised consciousness of a "critical mass" of people. Collective consciousness is achieved through one whole-system conversation, where we co-create shared understandings about truth, vision and strategy. The magic sauce for achieving this is a whole-system quality of thinking, "choice-creating", which can be sparked by the Wisdom Council Process.
- Facilitating the emergence of a new paradigm of "inter-being", valuing all aspects of life ... Our current System enforces in us a subject-object, reductive world view, which drives us to see nature as a set of resources to be claimed. So the climate crisis is a natural result. The Wisdom Council Process sparks a shift in collective and individual consciousness, where we think more holistically in the spirit of inter-being with other species, the planet, and future generations.
- Sparking breakthroughs ... Scientists are saying that it's too late for us to avoid many of the worst aspects of climate change. But we haven't started thinking yet. The nature of choice-creating is to face impossible-seeming issues with heartfelt creativity and collaboration, so that progress happens through shifts and breakthroughs. Opportunities will result that are currently unforeseeable.
- Structuring the emergence of a new System ... If all of us engage one another in an ongoing way, facing problems and seeking unity about what's going on, what we want and what to do, then we are living in a new System. It's a "wise" democracy with a new entity, "We the People", ultimately in charge. Currently our economic system, which we call "capitalism" is destroying our planet by assuring the growth of production and consumption with little regard for the planet. Here's a way to shift our whole economic orientation toward serving the collective good with enhanced freedoms.
- Overhauling the Sub-systems ... Housing, food production, defense, education, energy, healthcare, etc. are all primarily aimed at making profits and only secondarily serving the pubic interest. So it's natural for these systems to work against the public interest in many regards ... e.g. People are encouraged to live in bigger houses than they need; to eat food that is sweet, fattening and generally unhealthy; to build "green energy solutions" that make profits rather than solving the climate crisis, etc. ... The Wisdom Council Process can establish a new hierarchy of values in each of these subsystems by establishing a clear sense of the Public Interest as something that we are all ... consumers, employees, parents, stockholders, activists, etc. ... working toward.
