The "HOLUTION to the Human Predicament" has 8 accessible steps. With adequate resources and connections "We," just a few of us, can set this project in motion!
Step 1 ... "Just Us" come together
"Just Us" are the few ordinary people who recognize the eight points enough to help make SB happen. These folk recognize that it's possible to use the Wisdom Council Process applied globally to convene "one whole-System choice-creating conversation." He or she is empowered to affect the global system and accepts the "response-ability" that comes with these understandings, to help assure that SB happens.
Step 2 ... Identify a Monster Problem to address
Globally, there are many Monster Problems. Through experience we've found that it's best to identify one issue ahead of time. The issue shouldn't be well-defined or even solvable. It just needs to be an issue that people care about deeply. The issue can be determined in any number of ways ... for instance, one way might be a global competition where one issue gains the most votes. Or the UN could be asked to identify an issue. Interestingly the selected issue is just a starting place because issues tend to change as the Wisdom Council conversation continues.
Step 3 ... RANDOMLY select a small group from the global population
We bring together 10 to 16 random people from the pool of possible participants. If it's a global issue then we draw randomly from the world population as much as possible. An accurate random selection is impossible to achieve. But as organizers we can do the best we can ... and that is usually good enough. Ideally we would use a respected polling organization with an international reputation to provide the random people. ... This group is a symbolic representation of all the world's population. And taking their picture can be a meaningful step, like the first picture of earth from space.
Step 4 ... Use Dynamic Facilitation to reliably evoke the spirit of "choice-creating" in the Wisdom Council
The Wisdom Council is gathered and meets for just a few days with someone skilled in Dynamic Facilitation. They may need a little background information about the issue, but this should be limited to an hour or so. This group is not an educated "advisory group." Nor do they ultimately prepare a "recommendation" on the issue. ... Because of Dynamic Facilitation the group thinks together in a creative way, reaching unity through shifts and breakthroughs. And because of this unusual thinking style ... choice-creating ... they will have a story to tell about how they got to unity. It is likely that they will identify "the real problem," what's really going on, what we really want, and a comprehensive strategy going forward.
Step 5 ... Organize a live "global community meeting," which has a face-to-face audience and a broadcast audience, where the Wisdom Council presents it's unified perspective and people have a chance to talk with others.
The Wisdom Council members walk onstage and to a large audience of people who are in the immediate audience and in the broadcast audience. They tell a little about themselves, their joint conclusions and tell a little of the story of how they reached their unified conclusion. In this sense the Wisdom Council story is about the hero's journey where a symbol of humanity encounters a dragon and achieves some kind of victory. Now the Wisdom Council is done but the audience members turn their chairs to talk with one another. And surprise ... most people essentially say "Yes, why aren't we doing that?" And even better, they keep talking in a way similar to the Wisdom Council, in a spirit that is like choice-creating.
Step 6 ... Provide ongoing opportunities for everyone in the global audience to gain some experience with the issue, the Wisdom Council perspective and talking with others.
We want to create "one ongoing global choice-creating conversation" where people come to a shared perspective on the truth of what's going on, a vision of what we want and some idea of the strategy going forward. ... This is a high goal. ... But it is essential to achieve. And it may not be that hard. We expect people to pay attention and get involved especially when there is some global crisis. Then as people start learning about the issue and what happened in the Wisdom Council, they just need to make some comment about it to anyone. And they are in the conversation. And their views will ultimately be incorporated into the conclusions.
Step 7 ... Structure global Wisdom Councils to be ongoing.
Setting up a global Wisdom Council Process that is ongoing, with new random groups selected regularly to address Monster Problems, is something that we (just us with adequate resources) can do. We don't really need anyone's permission, although we may need different work-arounds to include and make safe people from autocratic countries. If the process is ongoing and gains widespread interest, then this simple step can become a STRUCTURAL adjustment to the global system ... affecting global governance, economics, culture, etc.
Step 8 ... Educate people to the different paradigm and skills that undergird this process
OK yes, the Wisdom Council Process has some aspects that seem magical. It's like the movie "The Matrix" where there's ordinary life. But the people who take the red pill mostly operate outside that System, which seems magical. In a similar way, we were born into a System that seems normal to us. And the Wisdom Council Process helps us to step outside of that System and see what's really going on, that our System is no longer viable. And to think together creatively about the situation and what's needed .. .and to reach unity in our conclusions.
