How does the Wise Democracy Project affect things?

Often people ask "How does action happen?" Yes, this process does influence elected officials to make policy in the public interest. But the benefits go WAY beyond that. And there is no identifiable downside. (The Project just adds a voluntary conversation to what exists.) Yet, the usual reaction of people is curious ...  dismissal or even active avoidance. So after checking some benefits listed below, you might also examine the webpage on "Getting It," why this has to happen.

• SOLVING  Monster Problems. ...  Each Wise Democracy Council addresses  a selected Monster Issue (e.g. political violence, at the threat of AI, the mal-distribution of wealth, the breakdown of the American family, etc.) and co-creates shared conclusions on:, 
  • what is really going on with this issue (i.e. the Truth—This helps break up the monopoly of media silos and public vitriol. 
  • what we all want (i.e.the shared Vision—This helps coordinate the values, actions and aims of philanthropies, government, corporations, and individuals);
  • and what we need to do about it (i.e. the best Strategy—This voice of the "public interest" introduces a new factor in the usual battle of special interests. Many elected representatives want to act in the public interest instead of loyalty to the party and lame efforts to stay in power. Finally, here's a way to think through and achieve commonsense changes to the Constitution.
  • Plus, the ongoing nature of the Wisdom Councils provides a way for "We the People" to Own these Monster Issues and follow up to make sure they are being solved adequately. What else is needed?
• Establishing a NEW NARRATIVE .... The "magic sauce" of each Wise Democracy Council is the nature of their conversation. It's not a discussion, a deliberation, a debate, etc. A person skilled in Dynamic Facilitation helps the group achieve the spirit of choice-creating. This means that a diverse group can address, make progress and reach unity on what seems like an impossible, conflicted issue. In addition to expressing its conclusions. A new overall story builds where We the People are co-creating a new system of Real Democracy ("of, by and for the people) where wise actions result (i.e. "Wise Democracy")
• Convening a NEW PUBLIC CONVERSATION ...  Wise Democracy Councils do NOT present recommendations to elected officials, like the Citizens Assembly or other deliberative councils.  The conclusions they express are reflections. They express what we all are feeling, thinking and choosing, convening a new "We the People" conversation, where we keep talking, clarifying the extent to which each of us resonates with the conclusions, and helping us continue building on the progress made within the Wise Democracy Councils.  This public conversation is not the usual back and forth of partisan debate encouraged by our commercial media. Nor is it the deliberation that most political scientists assume is needed. This is a whole-nation "visiting" together in the spirit of choice-creating, where we creatively seek a unified view of what each of us is thinking and what is best for all.  
• INVOLVING and EDUCATING CITIZENS. ... It's really all of us addressing and solving these problems, discovering the Truth, Vision, and Strategy. It's education that comes not through lectures or populist leaders, but through creative engagement with others. Yes, it's learning about the original Founders creating a Constitutional Republic, dbut also it us, today, founding the new System of Democracy. 
• Evoking a new PROCESS OF THINKING.  Our current system establishes a process of collective "decision-making." There are rules we've agreed to, for instance, in how to resolve a conflict. But what is missing is "Let's step aside for a moment and think together with a facilitator to see if we can all come together on what's going on and what's needed. This obvious thinking process doesn't happen in our society. Key to realize is that it's not a normal thinking process (i.e. decision-making, debate, deliberation, discussion, etc.) This stepping back process is specially facilitated to be in the spirit of choice-creating, where we creatively seek what's best for all. 
• The new SYSTEM of WISE DEMOCRACY. The Wise Democracy Project adds the missing "We the People" conversation to our existing System. Just adding this missing conversation shifts our underlying System from a Constitutional Republic" (or a dictatorship) where a social contract is ultimately in charge (or an autocrat), to a "Wise Democracy," where a wise and responsible "We the People" is ultimately in charge. This new System brings a new level of collective and individual intelligence. It changes the underlying basis of society from a game-like competition for "happiness" (i.e. profit) to a new level of trust and compassion in service of life. For instance, a new economic system would evolve ... not capitalism, socialism, feudalism, communism, etc. ... but what we call "ToBe-ism," where we collectively steward the commons and our people. (Much is to be done in discovering the implications of this new System) 
• Accomplishing YOUR BIGGEST WISH​ ... What is your biggest wish for America (or the world)? Aim high!

  • We have identified a Monster Wish that can be achieved by the Wise Democracy Project and the new system it evokes. We are guessing that if you study the Monster Wish you will recognize that it encompasses your wish. 
• Also notice ... Each of the 8 STEPS is a benefit ... Yes, the overall process brings immense benefit. But at each step in the process is of value.  For instance, just the idea of citizens identifying one particular issue to work on sets up a short-term focus. And the focus is flexible, so as events change and people's interest changes (e.g from loss of democracy to political violence). This is a way of helping people redirect. Clearly, the random selection creates a living symbol of “the people" and as they are dynamically facilitated for 2 or 3 days, they reach unity. Now the group symbolizes "We the People." As the process unfolds, new symbols of "We the People," "the public discourse," "the will of the people," etc. gain in clarity and strength. Even before these transformations however, public officials will increasingly recognize their new constituency: all-the-people-speaking-as-one.

The crazy part of this is people's reaction! (See "Getting It")

Really smart people are looking at the situation of our society and exclaiming fearfully "there are no answers."  Or, they are telling others to  "stand strong" and "fight back," as though these are viable answers. Mostly people aren't ready yet to hear a system-transforming answer ... a simple way to achieve IMMENSE BENEFITS with no identifiable downside. It seems that people would at least be curious, but usually they react instead with avoidance, dismissal and even frustration that someone might claim so much from so little.
