1. Are you concerned that our society is facing Monster Problems that threaten civilization?
2. Are you concerned that “normal solutions” are largely blocked from solving these Monsters?
“Normal solutions” are those our System provides (See “To solve climate change We need to … WAIT! … Who is 'We'?") ... Different sets of "normal solutions" include:
3. Are you concerned that "normal solutions" do not address the underlying Human Predicament? .... Because they can't transform The System, which causes the "Monster Problems"?
4. Do you recognize that implementing Society’s Breakthrough will remove blocks so that "normal solutions" can become effective?
6. Do you recognize that implementing Society’s Breakthrough will facilitate the necessary transformation of our System so the Monster Problems stop forming and start going away?
7. Do you recognize that Society's Breakthrough is amazingly GOOD NEWS? ... i.e. a viable, accessible, proven, safe way to address the underlying Human Predicament?

2. Are you concerned that “normal solutions” are largely blocked from solving these Monsters?
“Normal solutions” are those our System provides (See “To solve climate change We need to … WAIT! … Who is 'We'?") ... Different sets of "normal solutions" include:
- individuals … This set of solution approaches seeks to educate or raise the consciousness of everyone, presumably with the potential of reaching some "critical mass" who buy into the new culture, experience personal transformation, pledge to act in a certain way, etc. (e.g. "We need to ..."teach critical thinking, learn non-violent communication, make choice-ful purchasing decisions, accept the new paradigm of “We-consciousness”, adopt a particular religious belief, etc.)
- organizations… This set of solution approaches are groups, corporations, social movements, etc. acting together. (e.g. "We need to ..." develop new storage technologies; model the next System through land trusts, co-ops, and eco-villages; demonstrate in the streets, etc.)
- official actions … This set of solution approaches happens through elected leaders and policies. (e.g. influence our leaders to act responsibly; enact the voting rights bill; get rid of corruption; shift to rank-order voting, enact a carbon tax, etc.)
3. Are you concerned that "normal solutions" do not address the underlying Human Predicament? .... Because they can't transform The System, which causes the "Monster Problems"?
- The basis for our current System is a competition among special interests, or between the fundamental idea of 'democracy' vs. autocracy. As people become increasingly inter-dependent this competition becomes lose/lose. Ultimately our System must shift toward a basis in collaboration.
- There is no collective thinking process in our System. We rely on voting, adding up individual judgments rather than the kind of conversation that leads to intelligent collective action. It's like we are all embedded in a competitive Game, where the competition itself drives us to disaster.
- Monster Problems like climate change and species extinction are ultimately caused by the competitive System, which presumes that we are in-dependent. But our current circumstance is that we have surpassed the finite limits of our planet, so we have become inter-dependent. And the competitive model can no longer work.
4. Do you recognize that implementing Society’s Breakthrough will remove blocks so that "normal solutions" can become effective?
- Individuals ... e.g. SB provides a way to surmount media silos, because it facilitates “all” the people to come together around a shared version of the "truth".
- Organizations ... e.g. SB provides a way to identify a shared vision of what we all want. So the underlying motivations of people and corporations can be directed toward serving the public interest vs. mindless consumption and maximizing of profits.
- Official decisions ... e.g. SB provides a way to disrupt the political battle of Special Interests and the corruption that results. Key is for all the people to identify the real problem and to clarify the “Public Interest." This sets up a dynamic of collaboration more than competition.
- By raising collective intelligence at the global level Society's Breakthrough is a HOLUTION to the Human Predicament, affecting all issues.
- Voting generates a low level of collective intelligence. It is based on individual judgments, mostly without even deliberation. SB adds the necessary high-quality conversation, where all the people come to a new level of collective consciousness and coherent action.
- The answer to the Human Predicament is for all the people to step back regularly from the System, to assess and determine what's going on, what we want, and how best to get there. And where we reach a shared perspective
6. Do you recognize that implementing Society’s Breakthrough will facilitate the necessary transformation of our System so the Monster Problems stop forming and start going away?
- The Human Predicament arises from our current System (growth-oriented, competitive, mechanistic, reductive, etc.) combining with our new context, where we are in Overshoot.
- SB adds the missing "ongoing whole-system choice-creating conversation." This alters the underlying structure and provides for System transformation. Once We start thinking together in a holistic way, we are no longer trapped inside a competitive System heading for mutual destruction.
- Just adding the missing "ongoing whole-system choice-creating conversation" brings people together in a shared pursuit of thrive-ability.
- One feature of choice-creating, the essential "We the People" thinking process, is how it generates a natural valuing of diversity of people and views.
- Eventually SB facilitates a new entity “We the People” to come into being. This global "We" is powerful enough to restructure economics and governance.
7. Do you recognize that Society's Breakthrough is amazingly GOOD NEWS? ... i.e. a viable, accessible, proven, safe way to address the underlying Human Predicament?
- Most of us have compartmentalized our feelings. Both individually and collectively we ignore the Monster Problems and carry on trying to live "normal" lives. But at the same time we know it can't work. Here's a way to restructure things to achieve a new normal, one that works for all.
- SB promises a restructuring of society to something better than what anyone could wish for. It's just a simple addition to what we already have. So it's safe. And it promises to educate people, bring all together, achieve breakthrough results, transform our System and facilitate us to solve Monster Problems.
- SB is already proven to work at large scale. It is accessible. Each step is a benefit. And it's safe (Where is the risk?).
8. Do you recognize that we, just us "Democracy Doulas," can begin to implement Society’s Breakthrough
- We don't need permission! Nor do we need to sell the idea to everyone first! They get included anyway.
- Unlike "normal solution" strategies, which are top-down or bottom-up, this strategy is facilitative. Like the facilitator of a meeting who creates a field of thinking, which affects everyone in the room, we can use the Wisdom Council Process to create a global "field".
- Of course, to start this process we must gain financial resources, connections, technical support, marketing help and media partners.
9. Do you recognize that THIS MUST HAPPEN? (i.e. Implementing Society's Breakthrough at both the global and national levels)
- The "human predicament" is where our System no longer works like it once did. And it generates the Monster Problems we now face. Naturally for a time people will pursue "normal solutions" in a quest to "move the dial" toward making things better. But this good work (e.g. helping the homeless, educating people, raising consciousness, generating a social movement, etc.)) cannot achieve the necessary System transformation.
- A structural addition is required, to facilitate all the people to a new level of collective intelligence, where "We the People" arise to solve the Monster Problems and reshape the institutions of government, economics, healthcare, education, etc. toward serving the public interest.
- Currently, VERY FEW people acknowledge the Human Predicament, that our System is the underlying cause for today's increasing problems. Or that there might be a breakthrough strategy to address it. They tend to think either that "there's nothing we can do" or "there are lots of solutions out there that need to come together." Hopefully you see the need for this particular "holution" so that all the normal solutions can start becoming effective again.
10. Do you accept the response-ability that comes with acknowledging these points?
- Society's Breakthrough is accessible (i.e. a few of us can set this in motion globally). It can can yield results quickly because it just takes a crisis like the Covid 19 pandemic, or the Russian invasion of Ukraine, to spark global interest. It's a breakthrough strategy but already proven to work at large scale, like in the local, state and national level in Austria for example; It is safe because it just adds a new voluntary conversation of "We the People" to what already exists.
- As Democracy Doulas how do we proceed to make this happen? ... Let's figure it out together ...funding, planning, media partners, technical support, organizing, reaching out to activists, etc.
