1. The Process of thinking … the normal process of thinking in our constitutional Republic is decision making. And of course there are discussions, dialogues, deliberations, negotiations, and debates that lead up to the ultimate decision which is usually made by some elite group of policymakers. The wisdom council process sets up a different kind of talking and thinking, what we call choice creating. It's not the weighing back and forth of different options to a predefined problem. It's were people bringing their worries and their excitements and their answers into a creative environment where everyone listens and where insights and breakthroughs happen that redefine the problem and generate new solutions.

This is an empowering process of thinking where impossible seeming problems can be faced and overcome and where the diversity of people in the room or in the conversation makes breakthroughs more likely. So her decision making is made more difficult by diverse views, choice creating is made easier because it opens the door to shifts and breakthroughs that can address and solve impossible seeming problems.
This process of thinking not only affects the wisdom council itself and the larger public conversation but it is infused into the educational environment. And teaches us more about solving problems in general. So when teachers in the educational field talk about teaching people how to think, they usually mean analytical or critical thinking based in judgment (which is good, of course) usually reductive but we're talking about adding another kind of thinking that is holistic and creative, a way to address and solve impossible-seeming problems.
